So far in reading the book dear Julia there is a girl named Elaine who has always wanted to be like Julia child. Ever since she was a child she would write letters to Julia child bur never sent them because she was to shy.

I remember the day I got the idea for DEAR JULIA.I was sitting at a bus stop, reading something entirely unrelated to cookery (I think it was Mark Epstein’s Thoughts Without A Thinker – a great book if you haven’t read it, but completely irrelevant to this story), when I remembered, suddenly, a dinner I had gone to about thirteen years earlier at the apartment of a friend of my roommate’s.
